Dr. Chan’s practice is a harmonious blend of finely honed skills, ability, attitude, and motivation to provide the utmost in patient care.

He and his staff’s attention to detail, ethical standard, and philosophy of care have earned the practice a solid reputation among both patients and peers.

Throughout the years his patient base has included those from Corona, Mariposa, San Francisco, Tracy, Palo Alto, Half Moon Bay, Turlock, Southern California, Hawaii, Germany, and Australia. Patients and other medical/dental professionals have paid him the ultimate compliment by referrals to their friends and family.

Gar Chan is a product of Los Angeles, graduated as a biology major in 1976 from the University of California, Irvine, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of California, San Francisco in 1980, and began private practice in 1981.

Several years ago Dr. Chan participated in OsteoReady’s Residency Program with Dr. Brady Frank, DDS, Ashland, Oregon. He has continued to refine his skills and experience to provide practical implant solutions for missing, failing, and/or fractured teeth. Patients are invited to find out how using simplified and efficient implant placements can provide long-lasting dental solutions at significant savings.

Dr. Chan coordinates the short and long-term dental treatment plans for patients. His goal is to optimize and maintain each individual’s oral health throughout his/her life. He is very thankful to have a caring, conscientious, loyal staff, who constantly strive to improve themselves professionally and personally.

Dr. Chan and his wife Rhona raised and nurtured two children, Allan and Erin. After graduating from U.C. San Diego in mechanical engineering, and a three-year residency in Family Medicine at Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, California, Allan now works in Famiy Medicine in Irvine, California. After graduating from U.C. Davis in two majors, studio art and design, with a minor in horticulture, Erin took supplemental classes in chemistry and statistics at Gavilan College.  

In his spare time, Dr. Chan is a hiker, an avid runner, and has participated in marathons. For many years he was a member of the South Valley Runner’s Club. His weekends are spent training and working on his home ecology projects.

He has studied under two of the foremost experts in dentistry, Peter Dawson and Frank Spears (Occlusal, musculature. and TMJ harmony and equilibrium) and he has taken courses in Clear Correct and Invisalign Orthodontics.
